Model engineering

Model engineering has been a passion for the past thirty years, and to date I've completed a 5"g GWR 1500 class pannier tank engine to the 'Speedy' design and a 5" g GWR King class locomotive which was awarded a gold medal at the Model Engineer exhibition at Olympia in 1997.

The above photo shows my latest locomotive project. It is a 7 1/4 g LNWR 4 cylinder compound of the Benbow class. This wil be a fine scale model built using works drawings and photographs with a lot of my own design where source information is unavailable.

King Richard 111

The above photo shows my 5"g model of GWR king class locomotive 'Richard III'.This was constructed over a 10 year period to the drawings of J Perrier with a lot of extra detailing work of my own. This loco has been uesd as a regular passenger hauler at Taunton Model Engineers and travelled many trouble free miles.

Jet engine running

As a break from locomotives I built a number of jet engines as it offers a completley different set of engineering challenges. The above example is a KJ 66 design which runs on diesel oil and will achieve engine speeds in excess of 100,000 rpm.

The above photo shows my first locomotive, Speedy.
